A Renewal of Vows. (With tangents interspersed)

If I were a gifted writer, I would write an elegant letter to you, but since I’m not this will have to suffice.

Grandpa taught us it was good to keep a journal of our day to day lives. He encouraged kids to have one, especially teens, but unfortunately I don’t have a journal. I don’t think it would be healthy for me to review my foolishness and stupidities ten years down the road. I already have to live with my memory.

So, I have you, my web log. In you I confide my thoughts and ramblings. (because thoughts and ramblings are stupid, and that’s how they will always remain) But I will never (well no longer) trust you with my emotions, for emotions are fleeting. I will also try to be as uncryptic as possible with you. If I like something enough to tell you, it shall be in plain spoken (err…written) english. Unless it’s an inside joke between me and friends. (Notice I said JOKE).

(Honestly I’m not so down with these cryptic emotional posts on peoples blogs, or just plain cryptic messages. Personally I think if you want to say it, say it. If you have the nerve to post it on a blog, which is hosted on the world wide web for the whole universe (that has an internet access) to read, you should leave the message unecrypted. Otherwise…why bother? Or better yet, Password Protect the post or e-mail the person if you can’t talk to them on the phone or say it in person. It saves mental games…and stops gossip.)

I will also keep you abreast with the latest happenings in the sports world, maybe an occasionally snippet of my reality life, a post about the downgrade of our governmental body and the nations lack of mental awareness and power to change the system. There will also be the posts with the well written quotes by well meaning people, a comical event or happening, perhaps even a comical post, and some good links for people to check out thrown in.

To continue the honest trend, I don’t know about your face lift anymore. You look fine the way you are. The black and white color scheme wasn’t truly ever my idea, so you can load safely now knowing that atleast for now, you can stay this way.

I also like your Header. It is truly different from the masses.

Most of all, I’m looking forward to many more months and hopefully years with you.

What He Said.

“Women’s bodies are supposed to be curvy. They’re not supposed to look like 14-year-old emaciated boys, but you have this whole industry trying to get women to be something that they’re not.” -Moby – (courtesty of moby.com (His blog is actually pretty interesting))

You can read the rest of the post on the fashion industry here.

This ones for you Man.

Due to popular demand (well, actually just due to Toshi, but I’m sure there are others out there secretly asking the same question.) I’m going to share my current Fantasy Football roster.

QB’s- Carson Palmer, Matt Hasselbeck*

RB’s- Julius Jones*, Deshaun Foster*, Shaun Alexander,Chester Taylor, Tatum Bell

WR’s- Hines Ward*, Darrell Jackson*, Torry Holt, Larry Fitzgerald

TE- Alge Crumpler*

D/ST- Denver Broncos*, Dallas Cowboys

K- Adam Vinatieri*, Robbie Gould

Astericks were the guys I had played this week.

Succisa Virescit

“When cut down, it grows back stronger”.

That’s the new Duke Lax motto, and I’m currently digging it.

Some weekend Highlights-

My fantasy football team kicked Dan’s butt, 90-125 (and counting). I’m kinda happy about that.

Notre Dame beat UCLA.

The Raiders stunned the nation with a win. (I don’t like them, but I also don’t like to see teams at the end of the season winless… kinda like how the Duke Football team will be soon.

And it was down right wrong how the Falcons whacked the Stealers from behind with an OT win. Argh…how dare they. Do they know who they’re messing with?…I don’t either. What happened to the Superbowl champions of last year? I’m a lost and confused fan.

Happy Birthday Smich… and Pointless Ramblings

Happy 30th Birthday Michelle!

It’s super cool working with you. My time in the office wouldn’t be the same. There wouldn’t be anyone to share the joy of a letter from the T. H., or R. from M., or those funny little incidents that happen throughout the day. There wouldn’t be any “page” sharing. Office shopping would lack the stops to our local, ever so boonie, Bonsall AM/PM to get Moutain Dew, or in your case, Splenda induced, Diet Mountain Dew.

I love you, and hope you have a swellfer year!

…and Pointless Ramblings.

Last night we had a birthday fellowship/gathering for Michelle’s birthday. After everyone left we watched Coyote Ugly. It was my first time seeing it. I thought it was a decent movie, a little overly cliched and Violet (Piper Perabo) voice was annoying, but decent. Well, what made it decent was the guys Comic book obsession.

That too, but actually it was the thought that hit me half way through the movie…”If that movie was made now or sometime in the last 2 years, it would have starred Hilary Duff or Lindsay Lohan.”

See it’s a sign that God really does loves us.

And Another…

There are to many Libras! I blame it on Valentine’s Day and the Media. The media hypes Valentines Day as the day to get laid (as with New Years, Spring Break, Summer Break, and Christmas), which then causes so many people to have babies in October, which then makes half of my October posts birthday greetings, which then means that I can’t write about Sports like I should be and want to be doing.

Like for instance I have two sports topics that I want to write about, but can’t, because I have to say Happy Birthday to Jesse.

Happy Birthday Jesse, aka Joey Red.

Interestingly enough I just finished eating a flavor of ice cream called the “Gobfather”. (Ben and Jerry’s, you should try it. It tastes pretty good.) Anyways that’s what triggered my mind to remember your birthday.

Now for me to try to be sentimental…

It was cool seeing you this year, make that three times (What a record) New Years, Wordstock, and my vacation.

Thanks for being a swell friend, listening ear (though you do most of the talking), and the movie guru.

It was pretty cool graduating with you, Elizabeth, and Kevin (All three happen to be some of my best friends).

Well I hope you have an awesome 17th year….and stuff (as a poetical friend would say).

Cheers to Gin

I suck…I missed another birthday, so here goes another belated post.

Happy Birthday Gin!

Thanks for being a cool person to talk with. You always have great ideas, whether it be for dinner (which I tend to need alot), what to do with the kids, or how to get to places on free day.  You have a great wit, which sometimes I envy. I also admire your down to earthness.
I hope you have an awesome year, (and all other pleasantries, etc.)

Friday Night Movie

Movies I would like to watch if I had money…

-Bobby (Lindsay Lohan and Elijah Wood kind of throw off some desire to watch it, but the Kennedy’s were cool, so I’d give it a shot)
-Invincible (Cause the Sports Guy said good things about it.)
-The Illusionist ( I know it’s a love story…but it would be good to watch Edward Norton in a different role.)
-The U.S. vs. John Lennon (just the title sounds cool, and the subject)
-All the Kings Men (Politics mixed with Jude Law and Sean Penn…ahhh)
-Step Up (for the dancing)
-Flyboys (sounds interesting)
-You, Me, and Dupree (“One way or another I’m going to…”)

Ones I might want to see…

-Hollywoodland (has mixed reviews, and Ben Affleck isn’t all that he used to be, but supposedly he did a pretty good job in this one.)
-Crossover (It would only be for the basketball, and before the NBA season starts)
-Beerfest (because it sounds corny)

One I would never want to see…

-Material Girl (Words don’t begin to describe my disgust)

Churchill Said It…

“You must sleep sometime between lunch and dinner, and no halfway measures. Take off your clothes and get into bed. That’s what I always do. Don’t think you will be doing less work because you sleep during the day. That’s a foolish notion held by people who have no imaginations. You will be able to accomplish more. You get two days in one – well, at least one and a half.” – Winston Churchill (Courtesy of The Really Useful Guide to Working Smarter Not Harder by Ilyce R. Glink)

Round 2

I normally don’t post twice in a day, but today is a special day. Mainly because I finally got a pair of Etnies shoes. I’ve been trying to get a pair for almost 2 years now, so hopefully Mr. Quilp can be relieved with me. And…I got a score of a deal. Pac Sun is having a big clearance right now and they only costed $30. I’m so happy. Usually they are marked at $60, well atleast the ones I got, so I”m pretty stoked.

Here’s a Youtube video that a friend sent me. It’s pretty awesomesomesome. The guy must have something squeezing his balls, cuz man, does he sing squueeeeekkkkilllllyyyyyy high. Enjoy.
