More News

I really need a real topic to blog about. I’m tired of links and one liners. But until that day comes…here’s some more trivial knowledge.

Mark Cuban is going to be on Dancing with the Stars. (Psst…Connie it’s another dance competition, just in time to carry on where SYTYCD left off)

An American won Gold in the 1,500 m. dash for the first time in 99 years. (Though technically he was a Kenyan before becoming a US citizen.)

Lax Power

This is mainly for my father.

Gary Gait (who is like the best lacrosse player ever) is now the Syracuse women’s lax coach.

The NCAA made changes to the Men’s Lacrosse Rules.

The Baltimore Bayhawks are no more…they are now the Washington Bayhawks. Evil traitors!  Bah ram them.

Philly won the MLL Crown.

Hangin Around

The last few days I’ve been up in the States hanging out at Fallbrook. I came up with Nate, the fun loving bear, Dan, the redneck -anti-ghetto white boy, and Nicky, the lone representer for Senior Teens in our area, on Friday night.  It was a lovely drive.

Listening to music with musicians is a pain. They always critique every little thing. And it finally drive you to the point of wanting to scream, “Let’s see how much better you can do!” ,but you don’t because you are a kind person. You know what else is annoying? Possibly eating at an Italian pizza/sandwich restaurant with an Italian. Before you even enter they are complaining about how the food isn’t real Italian and blah blah, blah. It’s just pizza! So you eat at McDonald’s and end up having stomach indigestion for the next few hours.

Anyways, back to my weekend. Friday night consisted of Boondocks (Which unfortunately was probably the worse mistake of the night. Nobody would let the jokes die.), some other comic kinda show, the movie Crank, and me beating Kevin in a wrestle match.

Saturday was a work day. My trusty computer followed me up here. I had my first experience of being the person to order 11 hamburgers, 1 chicken sandwich, fries, and a milkshake from a drive thru. It’s something that I will always remember.

Sunday: Slept, chilled, relaxed, and am now on my computer blogging while the guys are enjoying a small informal LAN party. I should be heading back down to Mexico anytime now.

I been hangin’ around this town on the corner

I been bummin’ around this old town for way too long

News, News, Read all about it.

Team USA beat Venezuela. (Like they should have.)
The Rangers smashed the Orioles 30-3. (Shamefully embarrassing.)

My Passport arrived. (Quicker than the regular 3 months, but longer than the estimated 2-3 weeks that it should take when you pay that extra expediting fee).

I’ve added more names to the OES Thank You page.

9 days until my job ends. (SwellOawesome!!!)

18 days until I go to Thailand. (Exciting!)

I’m going to miss my swell home, like way too much. (Speck, we need to start an Operation Smile, Cheese! since you have that nifty little camera)

Links

This weeks links features…

Stevie Wonder (the blind man wonder) singing way back when.

We all know Stevie can sing, play the harmonica, and play some mad piano,…but did you know that can Play the drums as well? I present you with a solid 5 minutes of mad drums.

As much as we dislike Michael Jackson now…we can’t deny the guy had talent then.

From a kid in singing, to an adult in dancing to freaky music videos that lasted for a good 6 or more minutes, he has a little respect from me.

And not to disappoint any sports fans…Ben Rothlisberger practicing with the Phoenix Suns.

The 11th Hour

Joining Al Gore in the battle against Global Warming is Leonardo DiCaprio. He made a documentary called the 11th Hour which will be coming out in theaters with in the next week. I’m interested in what angle he is taking, since Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth dealt with the same issues.

In any case it will defiantly be more enjoyable to look at Leonardo for a few hours than Al Gore.

Maybe he’s on to something?

Random Rain Drops

It hasn’t rained in a long long time. I’m starting to miss it. But to count my blessings I’m also glad that it hasn’t rained because if it did, our little dirt road would turn to mud and then we would be stuck.

So PTL.

Brady Quinn is off to a good start.

My fantasy league idea has gone capoof. It isn’t going to work out for me this season since I’m going to be traveling a bit during the beginning.

The Orioles always start to do better after the All-Star break and it sucks. Why couldn’t they beat teams when it matters? But to their “when it doesn’t matter” credit they did just win the Yankees and Boston series.

Sam and Phil are gone for the week. Sniff…weep…my homies are gone.

I’m tired of sports figures ripping off MJ’s number 23. It’s lame. Argh silly Lebron, Beckham and I’m sure there are more. There can and will ever be only one Michael Jordan, and one real number 23.

I got this idea from a blog I follow, I think it would be a swell idea considering what’s to come.

Watching: So You Think You Can Dance, and My Boys.

Craving: Mochi and Yummy Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream

Shopping Hassles

Girls here dress in slacks, dresses, or skirts. There are no bare midriffs, otherwise pretty normal. Bras are recommended – especially for Westerners.
We sort of dress nicely when going out. Nice slacks – or jeans – no holes or very wrinkly. I wear pull over golf shirts or dress shirts. The King’s color is yellow – it’s good to wear a yellow shirt on Mondays and Fridays, if possible. I actually have a King’s shirt, as well as a yellow polo shirt and yellow dress shirt.
It’s a very modern city. When the women go out on OR, they usually wear dresses or skirts – no slacks. However, pants are fine the rest of the time. –Excerpt of a letter from my father.

Today I went shopping looking for clothes for my trip to Thailand. It was depressing. I’ve never been able to find a pair of slacks that fit me properly, and today wasn’t any different.

I’m thinking that if the king would have known how hard it is to find a decent flattering yellow shirt (heck any yellow shirt) over here in America…he would have changed his favorite color. The only ones I found were AE, Hollister, AF polo’s for 25 bucks…and that’s not really in my budget right now. So I’m sorry Thai people, I mean no disrespect, but I don’t think I can follow those customs.

But if it makes it any better I bought a few dresses.

OMG! You didn’t? You wouldn’t?

Uhuh, I did. I broke out the penny bank and bought 2 dresses, because they expect you to wear those. But I bet even those aren’t the “right” ones.

Finding clothes to wear in America is hard enough as it is, but then to find something that’s kosher for Thailand is even harder. And do they realize that holes in your jeans are the fashion right now?

I wonder if they would give a little leniency to foreigners who are only visiting?

When is War Okay?

This random thought hit me upside the side of my head, then ricocheted backwards and hit the wall of my computer, I spun around then it hit me upside the other side of my head. The thought traveled far.

When is War Okay?

I’ve been thinking about the Anti-War movement and how they are against war. (Naww…really? Who would have guessed?) I’m going to back track a couple of sentences, I’m against war. I don’t endorse it in anyway…Make Peace man. Love your brothers and stuff.

Most of the people who are against war (society at large) are also quite happy with their merry little lives, with their nice little homes, with their nice little car (or overly large, gas guzzling, road ruining SUV’s), and their nice little children, in their nice large country. But have they thought about how their country, their wonderful nation (whether it be Britain, France, Russia, Mexico, or the US) came to be?

Yeah, it was by some kinda war.

Most of them tend to forget that little tiny detail. It’s real easy to say, “well that was different, our ancestors were fighting for what they believed in, they were fighting to free themselves from bondage and oppression. So in their right mindeness they stage a protest then return home and forget all about it.

Lame.

(I shall also state here that I really have no conclusions on this point. As of now it’s a bunch of jumble bumble thoughts typed on a computer screen by an overly tired individual.)

Then I thought about how in the Bible, it was okay for the Israelites to start wars. There are numerable examples, such as  Samson, Gideon, Abraham, etc. God also told Saul to kill animals, children, men, women…everything, and he didn’t so God struck him down. But that was okay because God told him to.

Then Jesus came and said blessed are the peacemakers, and ended war.

But after he said that he cursed the silly Pharisee’s and told them that the Romans were going to take apart their temple brick by brick. (meaning war.)

So my question of the ages is, when is war acceptable?
