Monthly Roundup – February

Wearing: Business casual, short sleeves, long sleeves. The weather is whack here, so it changes just about everyday.

Listening to: John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Feist, and a bunch of other stuff.

Reading: Mark Twain’s short stories, Huckleberry Finn, but I have some pretty hefty reading goals for March and I’m excited.

Watching: American Idol, Back to You, Basketball, College Lacrosse.

Craving: Taco Bell and Papa Johns pizza

Wondering: Oh gosh…can’t think of much right now. I’m too excited.

Wishing: Umm….yeah wow again.

Lusting after: TiVo and a car.

Loving: everything about now. Did I’m tell you I’m really jazzed? Well I am.

My blog had it’s 3rd anniversary on the 20th. Oh and if you google “puddle of mud”, you will find it on the first page now. We’re moving up in the world!

Hating/Disliking: Facebook application requests and the odd poppy disco-y sound of Paula Abdul, Brittney Spears, and Madonna…it’s so 80’s.

Missing: The kiddos.

Boy crushing: John Mayer…sigh.

Girl crushing: I’m digging the Feist girl’s voice. It’s different.

Awaiting: for two more college offers, Memphis in May (aka Beale Street Music Festival, it’s the shiznit), Bonnaroo, Summer!, oh gosh..there’s so much in store.

Dreading: The Patriots picking up some more good players.

Accepted

I just got an acceptance letter and tee shirt from Christian Brothers University.

I’m pretty jazzed.

Now to find out what the other two schools are going to say.

Freaking Hilarious

Part 1. Sarah Silverman and Matt Damon.

Part 2. Jimmy Kimmel, Ben Affleck..and every actor and singer you can think of.

Oh, it’s good stuff.

Good Weekend

Sunday-

Rest.

Academy Awards.

I’m so happy that the theme song for the movie Once won best song of the year. I saw the movie on the plane from Bangkok to the US and found it sweet, simple, and that the soundtrack would be cool to have, but didn’t think too much of it again. When I saw them on the Academy Awards I started freaking out. Here’s why, they made the movie in 3 weeks using two hand held cameras. They were so humble and surprised that they won. And their competition was all from the movie Enchanted (God save us). I wish them luck for the future.

I’m also jazzed that the Coen brothers picked up a few awards. Their movies are always interesting.

Owen Wilson presented a couple of awards. Sigh…

For some reason Hilary Swank, Miley Cyrus, and Cameron Diaz all rub me the wrong way. I can’t put my finger on why but I just know that I don’t like them very much.

Saturday-

Was the first day college lacrosse was broadcasted on ESPNU. Now my Saturdays will have a purpose again.

(rant alert) I hate CBS. It’s the most icky channel ever. During the football season they would switch from the Colts games when they were ahead by 14 or more, which is aweful because we all know they wouldn’t do that to the Patriots. But listen to this, they switched from a Duke game on Saturday. Duke was up by 20 over St. John and they switched to some other game. People like to see high scoring games…HELLO! CBS you have lost a potential fan/employee. Lets all boycott CBS!

Go NBC! (End of rant)

And we all know the Friday was a good day.  Ahh…what a weekend.

Where :-P Happens

I went to my first NBA game and I absolutely loved it.

I believe it is so much better in person. Games seem to last forever on tv, but go by super fast live. I wish it had lasted just a little longer.

Dirk was….sigh

I think I had a smile on my face from the moment he set foot on the court (23 minutes till tip off) till the moment he left (3 hours and some odd minutes later). I’m sure the people sitting beside me thought…oh god.

But honestly it was the coolest thing ever and exactly how I had always imagined it would be.

There was the 3 drunk and obnoxious guys 3 rows back (I felt like turning around and slapping all of them for screaming “Dirk go home” and “Get a hair cut”. I think they failed the realize that the Grizzlies have quite a few foreigners too. However as the game wore on they started screaming at the Griz players so it was all fair, plus they were drunk), there was the two business guys with seasons tickets to my right filling me on the the procedures and usual happenings, the helpful couple on the left, and there was the group of season ticket holders on the bus (a whole whoopin 6 of us in total) discussing the season on the way there and the game on the way back.

Since this was my first game, I decided to get decent tickets. As in not the nosebleeds and not the sidelines. My tickets where in the second tier near the Grizzlies Tunnel.  It was cool that you could watch the game on the jumbotron, sorta like a big screen tv or the court with relative ease. And I chose the court because I can watch a tv at home. There wasn’t a whole lot of people there, they say around 18,000 but there was a ton of empty seats so I’m willing to say there was less.

The Mavs won.

(Break Down) Kidd looked out of sorts. He made some beautiful passes but didn’t score much. I think he made a whole 2 points or something with like 4 attempts. Dirk didn’t play a whole lot of minutes because they were a head by 20 for most of the game, however the Grizz put up a fight in the third and brought the lead down to single digits but in the fourth they just gave up. I will say Dirk and Kidd already have some chemistry. (Lots of high fives and butt slaps…it looked really odd to my trained eye)I think Dirk has ADD. He can’t stop moving, not even during the national anthem. He was totally respectful had his hand on his heart , and his head down, but his feet wouldn’t stand still. Or when he’s feet are still he’s hands are moving.  Rudy Gay is the new face of the Grizzlies, which is weird because I think of him as a good second or third man, but he’s from B-more, so you know he’s cool. We need to all say a prayer for the Grizzlies that they can figure out what they are trying to do and do it, oh and that they can let us in on the plan.

Mark Cuban was there! I searched high and low to see him, he was on the other side of the building behind the Mavs bench, or so I heard so I couldn’t see him. When they finally showed him on the Jumbotron it made me even happier than I already was. (and after scrounging through my pictures I spotted him on my own…nice) I saw Kwame Brown score! I feel like he was a big bust, but hey people cheered for him, and it made me laugh out loud. Do they know who he?

Pictures?

What I wish to do someday.

The First Foul (and it was on Josh Howard)

img_24921.jpg

And the free throws. Notice Jason Kidd (I got to witness 15 assists)

img_24931.jpg

If you look closely to the right you can actually see Mark Cuban.

img_24961.jpg

A grouped called the Grannies and the Grandpas, it was both hilarious and freaky. They were getting jiggy with it, and breaking hips to “Low”img_24971.jpg

My second favorite basketball coach. I love his pimpin old school fro. img_24981.jpg (and Cuban’s in there too)

The Grizzlies thought it would be “hilarious” to give the Mavs a “new” mascot. It was beyond stupid and not funny. I present to you the monkey riding cowboy. Haha…right…img_25001.jpg

The Half Time Show was the Tennessee State Marching Band, it was funky and good.img_25021.jpg

These drum guys were pretty awesome. img_25061.jpg

They say this guy is 6 foot. It’s a lie, a big fat lie. He’s like 5 foot four or close to it. img_25081.jpg

I went camera happy, and I even have more pictures. It’s the first time, so give me a break.

All in all it was totally swell and I can see my self going again…perhaps the Celtics on the 8th?(but with nosebleed seats)

And you can feel free to comment.

NBA here I come!

I’m going to the Grizzlies game.

I’m going to see Nowitzki!

It’s going to be my first NBA game live.

I’m so excited.

I’m going to see Kidd!

I can’t contain my joy.

I’m going to see Rudy Gay.

Representing Baltimore!

Oh….I hope the night comes fast.

Down The Crapper

I jinxed them. I jinxed Duke. Everyone can blame me. I take full responsibility. I got ahead of myself with talks of being number 1 and being unbeaten in the ACC. They’ve lost to Wake and now to Miami (the hoodlums). I can’t stand the “U”. Most athletes that comes out of there think they are better than everyone else, has social problems, and trash talks out of the wazoo. Argh.
Breathing.

Duke’s lead over UNC has gone down the crapper. I expect Duke to be ranked around number 15 now.

Goodbye to the “2000″ flashbacks and hello “last year”. ARGH!

****

The loss was by only one point. They made a rally with 8 minutes left to sorta make a comeback, but couldn’t. The loss was deserved. They can’t keep expecting to win games with being down at half time and beyond. Of course now they know this, and I’m sure Coach K will drill the point home. I remember the day when he cleared out the locker room of any foofoo stuff and made it just bare wood benches because of the players comfort with their losing streak. Man those were the good ol days of 2000 and 2001 when they made it pass the sweet 16, and won Championships on the side.

But there’s still hope.

and of course Coach K’s fued with Coach Roy isn’t really helping matters much. Then again Calipari and Tennessee’s coach have a little something something going on too. It’s the year of rivalries.

One More Time

If another person starts trying their horrendous americanized spanish on me…

If another person says Konichiwa…

If another person asks where I’m from….

If another person asks me what life in the Philippines is like…

If another person asks if I’m American Indian…

…I’m going to go insane.

Gosh darn, I’m black!

Goals.

I was flipping channels a couple of Sundays ago because as I’ve discovered (and as a heads up) there isn’t anything good on television on Sunday mornings. As I was flipping I noticed Joel Osteen was on. I decided to give him a listen because as I said there wasn’t anything better to do and all I knew about him was what the END had mentioned, which you know isn’t all that much.

Anyways he was preaching about goals, long term goals like 10-15 years and even short term ones, and the power of writing them down, committing them to the Lord, making steps towards them, and then the Lord will meet you when he thinks you’re ready for them. He kept stressing reviewing them, and also making sure you are doing you’re part towards them.

It’s not like I had never heard what he was saying before, and in fact I had written down a few of my goals before I moved to Memphis so I could know what my priorities are. Because without a vision the people perish right? But for some reason it struck me differently than usual. I ended up spending the whole day thinking about it, and then talking to my relatives about how cool it was to hear that.

Anyhow my whole point is that I’m going to have a page on my blog with my goals listed and as they are reached I will cross them off and you all can watch as progress is made.

Superman

Dwight Howard is the BOMB!!!

Man he slammed and dunked the competition out of the building!

Woaha!
