Not dead…still breathing.
Midterms next week. (Oh gosh…the semester is half way done!)
Spring Break week after. (Yay)
Lent.- No meat on Fridays….sniff. (I’m forsaking my dependence on curse words…it’s actually pretty hard)
Homecoming…will post pictures soon. If you are a friend on facebook you can already view them there.
Until next time.
Wow, it’s been one of those weeks, and next week is going to follow suite. However, everything is going great for the most part.
Tutoring is going well. I tutor 2 girls, one with phonics and the other on comprehension and basic reading skills. It’s amazing the things they will say and do. I was wearing a short sleave shirt the other day because its finally warm here (or as close as you can get for Febuary, 60 degrees). She stared at me for a while and then said…”you have hair on your arms. Umm….yes, I do.” What are you supposed to say to that?
Last night I broke out with a pimple. I tried my best to conceal it and I thought I had done a pretty decent job at it, but no…not good enough for this little girl. She stared at me again, got 6 inches to my face, and said…what’s that on your face? A pimple. How did you get it? Its something that happens when you get older, probably around middle school, your body starts to change and you develop something that’s called acne. Eww….I hope I don’t get that. “Well just you wait, Henry Higgins, just you wait.” went through my head.
But they really are darlings. Like the out spoken one told me that she wished I was her cousin, which I guess is a big bestowment. And the other says that her classmates thought I was her mom…which is both scary and flattering at the same time.
Classes are at their height. This past week I had 1 test and next week there will be 2, and the week following 1. I’m completely terrified of my math test on Monday. Finite math and matracies make ablsolutely no sense to me. I have been termed “math illiterate”, because supposedly when you look at a math equation you are supposed to see a story or picture…all I see are a bunch of chaotic numbers. I’ve been squeaking by on my homework with the aid of my genuis Indian friend S. and my boyfriend who both happen to be math wizzes. The only problem is that explaining what they do isn’t the easiest thing for them, so I’m still left pretty clueless. However, my teacher is pretty awesome and is holding a study session on Sunday in hopes to help us pass. If I can get by this class with a passing grade I will be done with math forever. Crossing my fingers that I can make it successfully through.
Tomorrow will be my first real Valentines day. It’s kinda scary and incredibly odd. I was talking to my friend A. today about how un-me this all is. The holding hands, pet names (I haven’t crossed the darkside yet, Michelle!), and the warm and fuzzy feeling when I see/hear from him. I’ve become everything I used to laugh and mock…..
but it’s worth it….
at least right now.
because I have to get up in 5 hours to work at my internship where I tutor children in reading, but…
I just got in a FACEBOOK OFFICIAL relationship. That’s like the real deal around these parts. And a first.
I feel so dorky. (while I’m knocking on wood hoping that it lasts)
Not that too many people care what I say anymore…
But I watched the Superbowl…of course. I wanted the Cards to win but knew the Steelers would ultimatly win. (Kurt Warner still rocks!) However, most importantly I wanted a good close game.
I got that in the 4th quarter and it rocked, though it was questionable at times.
I had a grand time at a friends house and naturally I was the only girl there with 5 guys, unless you count the friends grandmother then there was 2. The food was awesome. Real southern style…a first for me. And I won many a heart with my superior football knowledge
I also had a grand time texting Jaydee throughout the game. His messages halted in the 4th quarter though…I think he got scared!
I also got to talk to long lost Toshi for like 2 hours before the big game. It felt good having a 2 hour discussion where 85% of the topics covered were sports.
So Dad…here’s to you and the Steelers who won there 6th Superbowl in franchise history….
Congrats (and we’ll get you next year)
